A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

We wish to remind everyone that registration is open for the next series of instructor led CPIM review courses for 2007. The first course, “Basics of Supply Chain Management” will be held Saturdays beginning January 13, 20, 27 at Faulkner State Community College Fairhope Campus, Dahlgren Hall, from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm. The registration and tuition fee is $400 for each course in 2007. This includes the participant coursebook, CD-Rom of sample test questions and extra test questions provided by the instructor. The actual CPIM examination fee for this module is not included in this price, and the student is responsible for scheduling the exam by contacting Promissor directly. There is a Promissor testing facility in Pensacola . The testing fee is $145 for non-members, and $110 for APICS members.

Imp ortant Note:

APICS recommends that each candidate use supplemental study references as they prepare to take the CPIM exams, and in preparing to gain the broadest knowledge of a particular subject. Recommended supplemental references include a copy of the APICS Dictionary, which is free to APICS members, the CPIM 2007 Exam Content Manual, and the textbook “Introduction to Materials Management” by Tony Arnold and Stephen Chapmen (Prentice Hall). Each student and candidate will be able to use these supplemental references throughout all 5 review courses and the 5 exams. I personally have used these and other references in preparing for the exams. The chapter can provide these at the chapter cost, or each student can purchase individually from the APICS bookstore. Contact me or visit www.apics.org for more information.

More than 80,000 professionals worldwide have earned the highly regarded APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) designation since 1973. APICS CPIM education offers specialized knowledge of production and inventory management that will enhance your on-the-job performance-that’s why so many employers consider it a desired qualification for new hires.

The APICS CPIM program provides a common platform for operations management professionals to evaluate their knowledge of production and inventory management and supply chain management.

Upon completion of the APICS CPIM program, you will

  • Improve efficiency across the processes of your organization
  • Streamline operations through accurate forecasting
  • Maximize ROI on systems and technologies.

Please visit our local chapter website at www.apics-soal.org for future updates on the 2007 education schedule. Coming soon, Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) education will be available in our area.
